What is a portable heater?
A portable heater is pretty much what the name implies - a small
space heater that you can easily move from one area to the next.
Most units will usually come with built in carrying handles or even
casters for easy transport.
How do portable heaters work?
Most units use electricity, but propane or gas portable heaters are
also available. As a general rule, most people prefer portable
electric heaters because electricity is easily available and safer
to use indoors. In terms of portable electric heaters, there are
many different heating styles available, from ceramic models to
infrared heaters to oil filled radiator style heaters. The type you
choose will really depend on your personal preferences and the area
you're trying to heat. To get an idea of what styles are available,

portable heater comparison chart.
How large of an area will a portable space heater cover?
Most of these heaters are 1500 watt units, so they're best suited for individual
rooms or areas up to 150 square feet. Keep in mind that portable
heaters aren't designed to replace your central heating system.
They're generally used to add supplemental warmth to an existing
HVAC system or to heat up a single room.
