The Heat Trak HRT11-96B Heated Rubber Stair Tread is a better alternative. No messy floors are caused by tracking calcium chloride inside. Also, tractions mats help preserve sidewalks and stairs whereas calcium chloride eats away at it over time.

The Heat Trak HRT11-96B measures 11 inches by 96 feet and runs on 240 volts. It is a portable stair tread so no installation is needed. It lies on top of surfaces to provide safe and easy passage to foot traffic. These treads are continuously melting snow and ice so that stairs are always clear and safe.

The HRT11-96B rubber tread is as tough as car tires and able to withstand less-than-ideal conditions. The electrically operated heating element is sandwiched between two surfaces of UV protected, non-slip rubber. The treads are able to be plugged right into a standard 240 outlet and have their own equipment leakage circuit interrupters (ELCI).
